Personal Background

I was born and raised in the heart of the Ottawa Valley in Pembroke, Ontario. I was a really motivated when I was younger having five different jobs at one time during the summer. So what would a teenager do with money from five jobs - get a car of course. But that didn't last too long as I needed funds for post-secondary education and living expenses in Toronto where I moved too when I was 18 years old. After finishing school in Toronto, I met my beautiful wife, Sue (a native of Calgary) and we got married in 1992 after moving to Kanata together. We immediately started our family of two beautiful children, Amanda and Matthew, and to this day still live in the same neighborhood that we moved into from Toronto where we have enjoyed making friends and all this area has to offer.

Professional Background

My training and the first few years my work career (since 1988) was spent in computer systems application software design and development. I specialized in financial and general business administration programs and migrated to telecommunications engineering in 1996. From there, I developed a hunger for a better understanding of other aspects of business and more involvement with people. I've recently became a student of real estate investing in 2009 and proceeded to pursue my passion for real estate investing and helping people own their own homes. I have come to realize that working as a professional real estate investor is the ultimate expression of my passion that combines many of my strengths together while building wealth through real estate.

The following is a list of some of my core strengths to which I apply to Real Estate investing, my work career and everyday life:

Analytical
I'm strong in the Analytical theme search as I search for reasons and causes. I have the ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation. I see myself as objective. I like to challenge other people to "Prove” what they claim is true. I challenge other people's ideas to insist that their theories be sound.

Harmony
I'm strong in the Harmony theme as I look for consensus. I don't enjoy conflict but I rather seek areas of agreement. In my view there is little to be gained from conflict and friction, so I seek to hold them to a minimum. When I know that the people around me hold differing views, I try to find the common ground.

Includer
"Stretch the circle wider" is what I'd like to say. I want to include people and make them feel part of the group. As an Includer, I'm accepting of others. I show awareness of those who feel left out and make an effort to include them.

Maximizer
Taking something from below average to above average or greater takes a great deal of effort and in my opinion is very rewarding. I focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. I seek to transform something strong into something superb.

Responsibility
force myself to take psychological ownership for anything I commit to, and whether large or small, I feel bound to follow it through to completion. I'm committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.

These are some of the strengths that I bring to the members of OERIO has your treasurer.
Thank You.
